How to read the Bible? How to interpret it? How to apply it? This book bridges the gap between those hermeneutical approaches that are too simple and those that are too technical. It begins with a review of the general principles of interpretation to, later, apply these principles to the various genres and contexts so that the reader can understand the biblical text and apply it to his own situation. Duval and Hays suggest that the biblical texts do not mean want the reader wants. The biblical authors had a specific meaning in mind, and God has given us the tools necessary for finding that meaning. This book contains practical exercises that will guide us through the process of interpretating both the Old and New Testaments, and places a special emphasis on the application of biblical teachings to real life.

J. Scott Duvall es profesor de Nuevo Testamento en el Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary y profesor Fuller de Nuevo Testamento en la Ouachita Baptist University (Arkansas), donde también se desempeñó como decano de la Pruet School of Christian Studies. Especialista en interpretación bíblica, formación espiritual y literatura apocalíptica, ha dedicado gran parte de su carrera al estudio del libro de Apocalipsis. Es autor y coautor de numerosas obras de referencia en estudios bíblicos, entre ellas Grasping God’s Word, Journey into God’s Word y The Heart of Revelation. Es miembro de la Society of Biblical Literature, el Institute for Biblical Research y la Evangelical Theological Society.
J. Daniel Hays doctor en filossofía de Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary es decano de la Pruet School of Christian Studies y profesor de Antiguo Testamento e interpretación bíblica en la Ouachita Baptist University. Es el autor de From Every People and Nation, y coautor de Grasping God's Word, Preaching God's Word, Irag: Babylon of the End-Times, Apocalypse y del Dictionary of Biblical Prophecy.
