Sense and Sensibility: Deluxe Painted Edition
Featuring beautiful hand-painted cover art from artist Laci Fowler, this deluxe collector's edition of Jane Austen's Sense and Sensibility is a must-have for book lovers and literature fans. One of English literature's classic masterpieces—a gripping novel exploring themes of love, sense (rational thought) versus sensibility (emotions), gender roles in the eighteenth century, and the harmful effects of wealth and greed on relationships.
Sense and Sensibility follows the Dashwood sisters, Elinor and Marianne, as they navigate love, heartbreak, and society after their father's death leaves them financially vulnerable. Elinor embodies sense—practicality, restraint, and emotional control—while Marianne represents sensibility—passion, spontaneity, and deep feeling. Their differing approaches shape their responses to challenges, leading to trials, misunderstandings, and growth. Through these experiences, Austen explores reason versus emotion, class, and moral integrity. In the end, both sisters balance heart and mind, learning that true happiness needs both sense and sensibility.

- About the Contributor(s):
Jane Austen was born on December 16, 1775, at Steventon near Basingstoke, England, the seventh child of the rector of the parish. She lived with her family at Steventon until they moved to Bath in 1801, when her father retired. After his death in 1805, she moved around with her mother; in 1809, they settled in Chawton, near Alton, Hampshire. Here she remained, except for a few visits to London, until in May 1817 she moved to Winchester to be near her doctor. There she died on July 18, 1817. As a girl, Jane Austen wrote stories, including burlesques of popular romances. Her works were published only after extensive revision; four novels were published in her lifetime. These are Sense and Sensibility (1811), Pride and Prejudice (1813), Mansfield Park (1814), and Emma (1816). Two other novels, Northanger Abbey and Persuasion, were published posthumously in 1818 with a biographical notice by her brother, Henry Austen, the first formal announcement of her authorship. At the time of her death, she was working on a new novel, Sanditon, a fragmentary draft of which survives.
