The Jolly Mon

An original tale where music and enchantment, pirates and trickery, friendship and the loyalty of a very special dolphin create a timeless story of adventure.

Inspired by his famous song "Jolly Mon Sing," beloved songwriter and storyteller Jimmy Buffett wrote The Jolly Mon with his then-eight-year-old daughter, Savannah Jane. Combining oceanic folklore with their own experiences sailing from island to island throughout the Caribbean, the father and daughter duo weave a story of magic, music, and adventure.

Artwork from Lambert Davis, an illustrator of a number of critically acclaimed picture books, brings the story to life with vivid color. “Bright ebullient paintings easily capture the sunshine and sea breezes of the warm climate; the Jolly Mon’s smile is winsome; and children familiar with the Buffett song on which the story is based will enjoy meeting him all the more.” —ALA Booklist
